Grand Popo Football Club

Thursday, August 14th, 2008

Courtesy of the peeps at BIGSTEREO, I was able to check out this snazzy little video from the Grand Popo Football Club (isn’t that just the most awesome name?).

Grand Popo Football Club are a French electronic music group of Nicolas Errèra and Ariel Wizman, best known for their 2001 hit song “Men Are Not Nice Guys” and to a lesser extent their underground dance hit “Each Finger Has An Attitude”. They also released an album entitled Shampoo Victims. The band name originated when Wizman went on a trip to Grand Popo, a village in the African nation of Benin, and “we said to ourselves that there had to be a football club in this town, and that if not, we’d have to do something about it, urgently”

“My Territory” comes off their sophomore album, and the video is awesome. Walking lips, exploding navels, I don’t know how to explain it but the video oddly enough fits the song. Pure crazyness, I say. Crazyness.

The video for “My Territory”:

Also see BIGSTEREO’s post for a dope remix of “My Territory.”

Chupucabra?

Tuesday, August 12th, 2008

I always suspected Sam Cassell being the Chupucabra... go figure.

Apparently they found what is believed to be the Chupucabra (”goat sucker”) out in Texas recently.

Chupucabra, also spelled chupacabra, the “goatsucker” was recently spotted in Texas and recorded on a dash cam.

The strange creature, referred to as the chupacabra or “goatsucker” has been spotted in Quero, TX. Deputies were checking fence lines and saw the creature just before sundown, and turned on their dash cam. You can also see video with audio at this link on CNN here. See video below:

You knew this was coming.

I present to you the “Everyone Nose (Remix)” music video by N*E*R*D, featuring Kanye West, Lupe Fiasco and Pusha-T (of the Clipse), directed by Hype Williams.

Throwback - Mary J. Blige - “Be Happy”

Wednesday, August 6th, 2008

On November 29, 1994, Uptown Records released Blige’s second album, My Life. Darker, moodier, and slightly less uptempo than its predecessor - What’s the 411? - the set was overseen by Sean “Puffy” Combs (despite his having recently left the label), who co-produced all but one of the albums tracks, and took over as Blige’s manager. Blige co-wrote a large body of the material, basing it on her personal life.

“Be Happy”, the album’s first single, peaked at number 29 and number six on the Hot 100 and R&B singles chart, respectively.

Introducing the Latest Protégé: DJ G-Logix

Monday, August 4th, 2008

I’m always one to share the DJ wealth with those who are cool. I met this cat over the ScratchLive forums a while back, as he was the one that created the now-awesome San Diego thread of the forum.

His name is Giovanni Tello, otherwise known in the public eye as DJ G-Logix.

He’s already opened for me on more than one occasion (Twice at Sin Niteclub, Once at Air Conditioned), and I hear he’s got managers and club owners inquiring for his services.

My name is Giovanni, Gio for short. I’m originally from a small city in central California called Fresno. I now reside in San Diego. Growing up, I always had an interest in the art of music, beats, rhythms, and Turntablism so Deejaying to me comes somewhat natural. I was introduced to Deejaying in 2004 by my cousin and continued to pursue it as more of a hobby but now it’s the love of it that keeps me going. I have done a variety of gigs from weddings, birthdays, clubs, and private parties. By far, club gigs are my favorite. To see the dance floor moving to your grooves is an awesome feeling. G-Logix is the DJ name I gave myself “G” is for the first letter of my name and “Logics” (spelled with an X) to have a logical sense of music and rhythm I mix. I enjoy mixing a variety of music from Hip-Hop to Funk, Electronica/House and many more. My Huge influences that got me involved in Deejaying are my Cousin/Family, Friends (DJ J-Steelz, DJ Stick-D, One Man Jazz, DJ Impact), and DJ influences such as DJ Q Bert, DJ Shadow, DJ Vice and Jazzy Jeff. I currently go to college and am a Business Marketing Major. I hope to pursue a career in Music/Radio. I’m a very positive and energetic individual when it comes time to DJ. I see it as a Passion and not a job. Feel free to visit my MYSPACE page at: www.myspace.com/geologik

DJ SG Headlining at Red Circle This Saturday

Monday, August 4th, 2008

DJ SG at Red Circle August 9, 2008

This coming Saturday, August 9th, 2008, I’ll be headlining at Red Circle, in the Gaslamp, downtown San Diego.

You know, the benefit of having a DJ name of only two letters is the fact that the name looks HUGE when you have to blow it up on a flyer - just thought I gloat for 2 seconds.

Saturday’s party is being brought to you by the awesome dudes Richard Bloom and Raging Productions. I took a gander at the invite list on facebook…. There are some really hot women coming through, so my boys better be in full effect.
