A Throwback to Get Me Through This Hump Day
Wednesday, July 16th, 2008I feel like I’m having a long week.
I’ve been promoting Thursday like crazy, on top of my typical Friday and Saturday gigs, as well as working on a new AC Lounge mix (not to mention the long overdue Face-Off Pt. 5). Meanwhile, I’ve somehow found the time to still go to school after work and have time to eat every now and then.
Anyway…
Sometimes the best remedy for the humps is some good tunes. This is one of those songs….
Jocelyn Enriquez - Do You Miss Me (Freestyle Mix)
Jocelyn Enriquez holds the distinction of being the first Filipino American to make it in the mainstream music industry. Dubbed as the new “Queen of Freestyle,” Enriquez was the first artist to be signed by Classified Records, a Filipino-owned recording company when it was established in 1993. When Enriquez’s first single became a success, larger recording companies began to take notice. Born and raised in San Francisco, California, Jocelyn Enriquez is the daughter of Filipino parents from Manila and the province of Pangasinan. By late April 1997, Enriquez’s first single “Do You Miss Me?” had placed 49th on the Billboard Top 100 singles chart, 7th in Singapore, and among the top 20 in Canada. Then she had the hit song, “A Little Bit of Ecstasy”. By August 1997. every day in New York City, one could hear “Do You Miss Me?” or “A Little Bit of Ecstasy”.

FSOTM: “This Ain’t Sex” - Usher
Tuesday, May 27th, 2008For some reason I can’t get this song out my head… I’m not going to lie, I’ve been waitin’ on this new Usher CD for quite some time now. I was expecting greatness from Usher after the “Same Girl” track with R. Kelly dropped… But “In This Club” was just okay (the remix is way better)…
Then Usher performed “This Ain’t Sex” on SNL (as his opening song at that) and all is right in the world. Usher’s back, ladies ‘n’ gentlemen. Especially the ladies.
Everybody Nose Remix
Monday, May 12th, 2008Wooooooowww….
I just had a listen to the N.E.R.D remix of “Everybody Nose” with Kanye West, Lupe Fiasco and Pusha-T (of the Clipse). It’s probably among the sickest tracks I’ve heard all year.
Kanye was kind enough to post it on his blog so go to his blog and listen to it now!!!.
Because I’m Excited for Saturday…
Monday, April 28th, 2008Here’s some You-Tube’ns of the group I’m spinning with on Saturday:
Three 6 Mafia - “I’d Rather”
Rick Astley Is My Homeboy
Tuesday, March 25th, 2008
Here’s a 30-minute mix I slapped together 2 weekends ago…. Anytime I have 50 Cent, Rick Astley, Dr. Dre, Armin van Helden and the Outfield in the same mix, you know it’s going to be awesome.
So enjoy!

Nirvana Smells a Little More Electro
Monday, March 24th, 2008
In my random blog browsings for the good musics, I came across this lovely gem: a remix of Nirvana’s “Smells Like Teen Spirit.” Now, I’ve heard a couple of mash-ups of SLTS before, none of which have made me want to take a second listen. This remix, however, is sick.
Give me a house/electro set, and I’ll definitely drop it. Break out the lumberjack flannel!
