the dailys in the life of DJ SG
Since I mentioned it in the last post…
I know it’s a little late. Whatever.. it’s my site, screw you.

I’ve been wanting a DJ drop for ever… now I finally have one. Look for me to play the hell out of it on top of every future mix
For some reason I can’t get this song out my head… I’m not going to lie, I’ve been waitin’ on this new Usher CD for quite some time now. I was expecting greatness from Usher after the “Same Girl” track with R. Kelly dropped… But “In This Club” was just okay (the remix is way better)…
Then Usher performed “This Ain’t Sex” on SNL (as his opening song at that) and all is right in the world. Usher’s back, ladies ‘n’ gentlemen. Especially the ladies.
Here’s some You-Tube’ns of the group I’m spinning with on Saturday:
Three 6 Mafia - “I’d Rather”

In my random blog browsings for the good musics, I came across this lovely gem: a remix of Nirvana’s “Smells Like Teen Spirit.” Now, I’ve heard a couple of mash-ups of SLTS before, none of which have made me want to take a second listen. This remix, however, is sick.
Give me a house/electro set, and I’ll definitely drop it. Break out the lumberjack flannel!
Nirvana - “Smells Like Teen Spirit” (Divide & Kreate Remix)
(Right-Click & Save As…)
I’m just kind of minding my own business… doing late night web and music work… chillin’ with the iTunes running in the background… when one of my all-time faves starts playing –
R. Kelly’s “Bump N Grind (Old School Remix)”
What’s amazing is out of the whole song, my mind focused on one line on the song:
So show me some ID before I get knee deep into you
Maybe I’m trippin’ out because it’s 3:30am and I really should be sleeping, but do you think R. Kelly saw his fetishes catching up to him one day? Just a thought. If you didn’t know, this song came out in 1993. Maybe his musical genius is far more extended than I originally thought.
In any case, it’s still a great song. Grove with me, baby.
Back to my red-eye work.
So we were standing outside Air Conditioned Lounge on Saturday night, waiting for the doors to open so I could go in and set up for my usual set, when we stumbled across a drop-distribution magazine at the doorstep called “Pacific.”
“Pacific Magazine” is your standard nightlife magazine with reviews of various hotspots around San Diego and what not…
As we were flipping through pages we stumbled across something that looked very familiar - it was my logo, taking up half the page.
The awesome peoples at Moondoggies apparently decided to run a print ad advertising my Friday nights playing over there. It was awesome! A whole 1/2-page ad with the biggest “SG” logo you have ever seen.
Sure, it might’ve been no big deal, but it was to me. And that’s all that counts.
I’ll try to take a snapshot of it later.
I keep bumpin’ this track.. and I feel like not enough people know it… so here it is.

I just wanted to take a minute to link the videos that Richie posted of my legendary night at the Vault…. waaaay back in April of 07. I don’t know why I didn’t post this any sooner… but I suppose better now than never. Real old stuff, for real.
And another thing… I really need to update my set. Hah.
